【摘要】:Thispracticeprovidesameansforobtainingaquantitativeestimateofapavementpropertydefinedasridequalityorrideabilityusinglongitudinalprofilemeasuringequipment.TheRideNumber(RN)isportablebecauseitcanbeobtainedfromlongitudinalprofilesobtainedwithavarietyofinstruments.TheRNisstablewithtimebecausetrueRNisbasedontheconceptofatruelongitudinalprofile,ratherthanthephysicalpropertiesofparticulartypeofinstrument.Ridequalityinformationisausefulinputtothepavementmanagesystems(PMS)maintainedbytransportationagencies.Thesubjectiveridequalityestimateproducedbythispracticehasbeendetermined(6)tobehighlycorrelated(r=0.92)withmeasuredsubjectiveridequalityandtoproducealowstandardestimateoferror(0.29RNunits)fortheridequalityestimate.Thesubjectiveridequalityestimatesproducedbythispracticewerefoundtobenotsignificantlydifferentwithrespecttopavementtype,roadclass,vehiclesize,vehiclespeed(withinpostedspeedlimits),andregionalityovertherangeofvariablesincludedintheexperiment(1,2,3,and4).Thesubjectiveridequalityestimatesproducedbythispracticehavebeenfoundtobegoodpredictorsoftheneedofnon-routineroadmaintenanceforthevariousroadclassifications(3).Theuseofthispracticetoproducesubjectiveridequalityestimatesfrommeasuredlongitudinalprofileeliminatestheneedforexpensiveridepanelstudiestoobtainthesameridequalityinformation.1.1Thispracticecoversthemathematicalprocessingoflongitudinalprofilemeasurementstoproduceanestimateofsubjectiveridequality,termedRideNumber(RN).1.2Theintentofthispracticeistoprovidethehighwaycommunityastandardpracticeforthecomputingandreportingofanestimateofsubjectiveridequalityforhighwaypavements.1.3ThispracticeisbasedonanalgorithmdevelopedinNationalCooperativeHighwayResearchProject(NCHRP)1x2013;23(1and2),twoOhioDepartmentofTransportationridequalityresearchprojects(3and4),andworkpresentedinRefs(5and6).1.4ThecomputedestimateofsubjectiveridequalityproducedbythispracticewasnamedRideNumber(RN)inNCHRPResearchProject1x2013;23(1and2)todifferentiateitfromothermeasuresofridequalitycomputedfromlongitudinalprofile.Eq1ofSection8.2representsthemathematicaldefinitionofRideNumber.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
